Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B1509/C

Coming in first place on our list of the best rated indoor bikes under $500 in Canada is the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B1509/C. This is from the often cheaper (yet quality) Sunny Health & Fitness line, so you’ll be sure of getting some benefit from it. The slick white and red design also makes you feel rather cool while onboard.

It has a belt drive in order to be quiet during the workouts. It has a 40 lb flywheel, giving plenty of resistance for anyone. The leather friction resistance system uses a knob to switch between these settings and adjust the challenge for each exercise. Magnetic resistance would be preferred, but that would also likely raise the price beyond our limit.

The SF-B1509/C measures out to be a small-ish spin bike. It is 47 inches (124 cm) long, 20 inches (51 cm) wide and 47.5 inches (119 cm) tall. It weighs 108 lbs (49 kg) and has a maximum weight of 265 lbs (120 kg). If you need to move the spin bike around, there are wheels on the front for transportation.

The handlebars are adjustable in their height, while the seat is adjustable 4 different ways. You have pedals that are caged by default, but are also compatible with SPD-cleats. You’ve also got floor stabilizers and a bottle holder as bonus features.

Conclusion

It’s just hard to argue against the amount of features that the SF-B1509/C. It isn’t perfect, as the resistance changing can be suspect at times and it isn’t quite as durable as more expensive bikes. However, for the price, it should work well for most.

Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B1002

In second place of the best spin cycles under $500 is another Sunny Health & Fitness spin bike – the SF-B1002. This spin cycle under 500 has less style than our first pick, but it still performs well under pressure.

The SF-B1002 uses friction resistance with a leather pad. Once more, it is controlled by a knob that allows the user to finely adjust the challenge to their own preferences. The flywheel that is used weighs about 48.5 lbs and provides a pretty good level of challenge for most users.

As for how the bike shapes up, you shouldn’t find too many issues. It is 50 inches (127 cm) long, 20 inches (51 cm) wide and 47 inches (119 cm) tall. The weight is a solid 114 lbs (52 kg), while the weight limit sits right above the SF-B1509/C at 275 lbs (125 kg). Once again, the transportation wheels make an appearance to make movement that much easier.

You’ve got a comfortable enough seat that can be adjusted 4 different ways on the SF-B1002. The handlebars themselves are multi-grip and functional. They can also be adjusted vertically in order to accommodate those of different heights and shapes. Caged pedals are available once more, though there’s no SPD capabilities here.

Conclusion

The Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B1002 spin bike is almost as good as the previous one. However, it’s just missing those few bonus features that puts the other one at the top of our list. The installation process is easier than many others, though it shares the same quality-assurance weaknesses that plague all SH&F bikes. The seat is also not terribly comfortable. A seat cover is recommended.

Leike Fitness Indoor Cycling Bike

In third place of our top indoor cycling bikes in Canada is one from outside the usual large brands. This one comes from the folks over at Leike Fitness and certainly looks like models that are of higher quality and price. But just how does it stack up against them?

The resistance system that Leike have chosen is the magnetic form. It’s got a belt drive as well, so that way you have about as quiet a workout as possible. The knob that sits underneath the handlebars is what you use in order to change those resistance levels and change your challenge. There is an LCD monitor that tries to help you track statistics like time, distance, speed and the like. It does an OK job, but it’s somewhat difficult to operate and see what stats you want.

It’s actually a fairly compact spin bike for the design that they’ve gone with. The bike is 45.3 inches (115 cm) long, 16.7 inches (50 cm) wide and 41.7 inches (106 cm) tall. It certainly isn’t lightweight, but it’s not the heaviest you will find on the market. It is about 71.7 lbs (32.5 kg), while the max weight supported is 300 lbs (136 kg).

The seat is described as a “comfortable, racing” seat. The former is true enough, and it certainly looks slick. It can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally, while the handlebars are only adjustable vertically. The pedals are caged, though there is often an issue with them – they break very easily. Multiple reports and reviews claim that the pedals either arrive broken or break after a short while through use. Not a good look at all.

Conclusion

The Leike Fitness Indoor Cycling Bike could be quite good for right around $256 CAD. However, one should be wary about the apparent fragility of this spin cycle under 500. If it doesn’t break on you, you should have a nice magnetic spin bike that can help you stay fit during the winter.

Dmasun Stationary Spin Bike

Halfway through our list of the best spin bikes under $500 Canadian dollars is the Dmasun Stationary Spin bike. With a simple black design, this spin bike should do a fine enough job for the price.

Just like the previous entry, the Dmasun bike uses magnetic resistance as its way to get you fit. It uses a percentage based knob to measure the resistance you face. The Poly-V belt will make sure that you won’t be disturbed by lots of noise regardless of what sort of challenge you set. A pretty good system. There is a small, simple monitor that tracks the time, distance, calories burned and speed. Nothing special, but it doesn’t need to be.

This is another bike that isn’t made to take up a huge amount of space. It measures to be 45 inches (114.5 cm) long, 20 inches (51 cm) wide and 43.7 inches (111 cm) tall. The weight matches this sort of small size, sitting at 75 lbs (35 kg). The maximum weight is 330-lbs which is pretty good.

There are 3 levels of vertical adjustment on the Dmasun spin bike, which is fine enough. Should allow people to change it to their own levels. The seat is adjustable both vertically and horizontally, though it isn’t the most comfortable. You might want to look into getting a seat cover for this one. The pedals are caged and that’s it.

Conclusion

One of the biggest issues with the Dmasun bike is the cost. For the newest price, it is just under $500 CAD. It’s a good bike that would do brilliantly if it just cost a bit less. The assembly process isn’t the easiest either, but once it’s built you should be rather happy with it.

HARISON B1850 Indoor Cycling Bike

Entering the latter half of the our list of the best rated spin bikes under $500 in Canada, we have the B1850 Indoor Cycling Bike from the good people of HARISON FITNESS. Another compact bike, this one allows for some entertainment with an iPad holder on top.

The resistance comes from the 35 lb flywheel and belt drive. They claim that the resistance is “infinitely adjustable”, which is quite a bold one. We’re not sure that actually holds up, but it still provides a decent enough range for most people. There’s an LCD monitor on-board that will track speed, RPM, distance, time and such. Once again, nothing special. But it will do.

You’ll find that space should really not be an issue with the B1850. It is 43 inches (109 cm) long, 23 inches (58.4 cm) wide and 45.6 inches (116 cm)  tall at maximum extension. The weight falls just at 80 lbs (36.3 kg) and can hold a max of 280 lbs (127 kg). Compact, but can still hold its own for most sizes.

The handlebar is adjustable vertically, as we have seen with almost all the others. The seat, similarly, is adjustable 4 different ways so that you can get as comfortable as you need to. If you’re looking for pedals that are toe-caged and made of steel, you need look no further. Finally, there are a pair of wheels to make movement easier and a bonus water bottle holder thrown in for good measure.

Conclusion

For the price of $400 CAD, it is an OK bike. The monitor is hard to see because it isn’t backlit. It’s hard to describe, but at times the B1850 just feels cheap. The handlebars in particular are guilty of this, as they sometimes jiggle around. But, it does the job and can help people get fit when it stays stable for them.

Marcy Club Revolution Cycle

The Marcy Club Revolution Cycle is another spin bike that is under $500 CAD. This indoor cycling bike in Canada is a good example of what wasted potential and poor customer service looks like.

The resistance of the Marcy Club Revolution cycle is from the 40 lb flywheel that sits at the fore of the machine. As is common, the knob that sits in front of you acts as the way that you control the resistance of the bike. There’s also an emergency brake function that allows you to stop rather quickly if you need to.

The Revolution Cycle is narrower than many of these other bikes, sitting at 17 inches (43 cm). It’s length is 41 inches (104 cm) and the height is the same measurement – 41 inches (104 cm). The bike itself weighs 88 lbs (39.9 kg) and can support up to 300 lbs (150 kg).

The pedals on the Revolution Cycle are caged and adjustable. The handlebar is adjustable vertically, while the seat can be changed both vertically and horizontally. Beware, many reports claim the seat is uncomfortable. A seat cover might be a worthy investment.

Conclusion

For a price of $427 CAD, the biggest issue comes in the form of other reviews. Many people report that the Revolution cycle breaks quite easily. Often it’s the resistance knob, though not exclusively. There’s also complaints of it being too loud for many. For the price, you might want to skip this one. Or at least beware what you are getting.

Sunny Health & Fitness Indoor SF-B1995

 in stock

as of September 5, 2023 11:27 pm

Finally, we have another contender from Sunny Health & Fitness. This time, it’s the SF-B1995. Starting off, the monitor that comes with the SF-B1995 is not very good at all. If you can actually see the numbers on the screen, it will display some stats like speed and distance. And that’s it.

The resistance system that it uses is a friction one, with a belt drive. This is an OK system that should work for most people. It won’t break that easily (at least initially) though it might get worn out over time. Keep that in mind for those looking for a long-term bike. It is adjustable through a knob that has no sort of number system.

It’s a decently sized bike, with dimensions of 49.5 inches (125 cm) in length, 20 inches (51 cm) of width and 49 inches (124.5 cm) in height. It weighs a solid 101 lbs (45.8 kg) and can support up to 275 lbs (125 kg).

The pedals are caged, while the seat is adjustable both vertically and horizontally. The latter isn’t very comfortable though. For the handlebars, they can be pulled up or pushed down, but that’s all. There’s also a bottle holder, but that doesn’t do a whole lot to add value.

Conclusion

You’ll find that the SF-B1995 does a job. It doesn’t do it particularly well, as the seat is uncomfortable, the monitor is barely readable and you can’t even tell how much resistance you’re putting in.

A Buyer's Guide To Best Spin Bikes in Canada Under $500

Now we’re going to look at some of the aspects that you should consider when trying to buy one of these spin bikes in Canada.

Type of Resistance

Friction or magnetic are your two options for spin bikes. Generally magnetic is seen as better and more long-lasting, but it often comes with a higher price as well.

Monitor

You’re unlikely to find some super-advanced computer in this price range of spin bikes in Canada, but it’s still worth taking into account how these monitors could help you track your fitness level.

Price

Obviously, you’ll want to make sure that the value for money is in your favour when buying a spinning bike in Canada. If it costs too much and isn’t good enough, you’ll want to avoid it. Also, try to opt for heavy spin bike flywheels.

Adjustability

If you can’t fit comfortably on the bike, you had best not order it. Those spin bikes under $500 in Canada come with many settings on their adjustable handlebars and seats that are quite desirable for many reasons.

The Final Verdict

We think that the top indoor cycling bike for under $500 in Canada is the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B1509/C. It simply has the right combination of features that you would want to find in this price range. It isn’t perfect, but we think that it offers the best value for money that you’ll find under $500. As always, we recommend doing your own research to see what would fit best and then make a decision with our advice in mind. Now get out there and get cycling!
